Industrial VA Consortia

CANVAC has a close relationship with the Visual Analytics Research and Development Consortium of Canada (VARDEC), an industry-led consortium with a mandate to conduct research and development in order to commercialize the latest visual analytics (VA) research, applications and technologies.

VARDEC brings together major aerospace and VA-related companies and small-to-medium sized enterprises to exploit the latest visual analytics R&D knowledge. This knowledge will provide practical VA solutions to enhance Canada’s global competitiveness.

The Consortium will advance the VA capabilities of, and build strong relationships among, Canadian and international visual analytic software and service providers, researchers and consumers. Industry-led research projects will be conducted at various locations across Canada. Industry members and CANVAC researchers will leverage Consortium resources and capabilities to conduct collaborative VARDEC projects.

VARDEC is aligned with Government of Canada Industrial & Regional Benefits (IRB) agreements with international suppliers, such as The Boeing Company, to help create strategic technology research investments in the Canadian economy. These agreements result from the awarding, by the Government of Canada, of defense and security-related contracts that require offset expenditures by the successful international suppliers.
